How to Remove the Click Sound on Internet Explorer
The annoying Internet Explorer clicking sound.
If you are hearing the click sound through your speakers when clicking on links in Internet Explorer, it's because Windows is set to play that click sound.
Let's remove that annoying sound setting so that the only click you hear will be the true physical click of your mouse.
Here is where you remove the click sound on Internet Explorer.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
- Click the Start Button.
- Click Control Panel.
- Choose Hardware and Sound.
- Click Sound.
- Choose the Sounds tab
- Under the Windows Explorer section, find Start Navigation. Change the default from the selected .wav file and set it to (None) and then click OK.
Windows XP:
- Click the Start Button.
- Click Control Panel.
- Choose Sounds and Audio Devices
- Choose the Sounds tab
- Under the Windows Explorer section, find Start Navigation. Change the default from the selected .wav file and set it to (None) and then click OK.
Windows 2000, 98 and 95:
- Click the Start Button.
- Click Settings.
- Click Control Panel.
- Choose Sounds and Multimedia.
- Choose the Sounds tab.
- Under the Windows Explorer section, find Start Navigation. Change the default from the selected .wav file and set it to (None) and then click OK.
